Original recording

The song was written by Brandon Lowry, Ronny Janssen, Frida Waage Amundsen, Aksel Carlson during a songwriters camp in Oslo in March 2016. It was then sent around in the hope that a big artist would record it. When this didn't happen, Brandon decided in early 2018 to publish his own recording.^{scope: entire paragraph}

Angelina learned about the yet unreleased song by late 2016, when she apparently worked with the same three Norwegian songwriters (Ronny Janssen, Frida Waage Amundsen, and Aksel Carlson) that had written the song together with Brandon Lowry, as they co-wrote her original song "Shield" together with her, which was released on 2018-11-08. Reportedly Ronny Janssen has stated that the later leaked recording was the last of three, and done on 2017-01-03, so a week before Angelina's 11th birthday, while the other two had been recorded in December. According to the same source, Ronny also said that Angelina and her family wanted to release the song, but it was rejected by him and Aksel Carlson, based on their assessment that her take would not be the right stylistic fit for the song. Statements that Angelina did not publish it because of a possible interpretation of the lyrics as describing suicide are thus likely not the complete truth.^{scope: entire paragraph}

The song was leaked in 2018. The current YouTube copy is a fan made video that was published on 2018-11-12, thus a couple weaks before the original song was released:

While it was reported that Sara said about Angelina at her 2018 Christmas concerts that she would never perform the song again because of the lyrics, Angelina herself answered a fan question about that years later in a livestream on TikTok on 2025-11-22 with "maybe. That is a good song."
